tony ollivierra begins 2011 by getting down with the machine sound. bordering on acid-funk, this ep really gets it shakin. the title track jericho, reeks of the latter days of disco with a deep bass line that fades in and takes control of the party. a warm synth chord then kicks in along with some strings which build up to a peak time climax. nag champa captures a deep and surreal groove with a sweet aromatic feel that definitely is burning. the dark bass line entangles the listener in a sensual moment while a resonant synth riff tops it off. on the flip, midi aura begins with an uncompromising synth bass line that does not quit. the sequence bubbles onward and a thick chord sweeps through the arrangement opening up into a placid apex of harmony. the aura of this midi is feel good all the way. lastly jack box, another acid track that works the cutoff and resonance into a climax of delightful poly rhythm and melody. jericho will be a very limited vinyl press and will be the final project on the ibex music label. keep your ears open for his next label venture which will be introduced this summer.

italian uprising artist frankyeffe is the one to continue the dark tradition on 43 recordings, and he does well just as he does on his every weeks residency on the traintek partys at romes rashomoon club playing alongside people like speedy j, edit select or sasha carassi and many more icons of real techno. he keeps things simple, but very effective, music which is nothing more or less than produced for causing riots during on the dancefloor peaktime. xhins remix on the flip is a really experimental apporach to the original, trcky rythms and he managed to create a totally new essence of the track. masterpiece of remixing, so dont be scared to try this on the dancefloor.

to kick-start the fina campaign we literally hunted high and low to find an artist and sound that we felt would represent us and give a statement of intent. what we didnt expect was for this search to take us south of the equator and into to the deep southern hemisphere. this is not the first place that you would expect to hear warm, deep underground house but this is exactly what you get with the melbourne based mic newman. and thinking about it, it doesnt get warmer or deeper than melbourne does it? mic is a young producer who we believe is destined for greatness. at the age of 29, hes already had a string of underground smashes on labels such as murmur, tsuba, dirt crew, freerange, and now for fina records. the intriguingly named live east, die young ep (mic riffing on his time spent living in london) sees what mic doing what he does best and demonstrates why his future is so bright. on die young, the tougher a-side, mic keeps the beats solid, and the groove tight and hypnotic, while the smooth chord stabs get right under your skin. prolonged foot tapping ensues. on the flip side, live east, mic takes it a little deeper with ever so subtle disco touches. the vocal sample asks what your name is and to take off your jacket as if to welcome you to a very messy after hours on this mcde-esque low-slung house groove. on remix duty, the on-form jacques renault and marcos cabral aka runaway, lift the track out of the south hemisphere and take it in a north easterly direction all the way to the caribbean – adding plenty of steel drums and pads on their interpretation of live east

austrian musican martin brunner aka madney moon scores with two refreshing tracks. with a wonderful catchy melody, the first track >is it hot< sounds quite imposing. patrick kunkel (coccon recordings) does a very nice remix and straightens the framework. the second original mix >is it what< is a powerful contemporary techno track with a dark concise vocal. its therefore no wonder that rocco caine does his typical deep interpretation of that track. the remix sounds monstrous and gives your spoilt feet all they want and love on the techfloor.

leonel castillo is undoubtedly argentinas most gifted producer. while his releases remain extremely rare, his daily creations keep adding and adding onto the thousands of tracks he produced over the past 20 years. on this very special artist ep - leonel castillo, the great engineer, sets some intricate and complex rhythmics in motion, forging el salon de los espejos into a highly feverish hotbox of a record. get this right: no other man can develop such elaborate and throbbing patterns as he does. from his lucious grooves featured on sushitech, to the stripped aesthetics as heard on illian tape or even the dubby techno textures from his record last year on greener - needless to say, leonel covers a wide and complete musical range.

pablo joined the serialism / mean / essential reload crew as moforize (does that ring a bell?) and delighted our public with a pearl on production side as well by giving refined dj sets. the ep is powerful, every tune is a classic, ranging from beautiful elegant deep house to percussive tech house with hip hop, dub, funk and techno influences.
